Mort & Pestle

Fifteen years ago, Mort (our namesake) couldn't find anywhere in her small country town to buy a decent cake tin. 

Outraged, she decided to take matters into her own hands and make sure such a thing wouldn't happen to anyone else ever again. So, she opened a kitchen shop!

When I purchased the shop from Mort in 2015, I thought long and hard about what new name to give it. We live in a wonderfully energetic, artistic and social community that really cares about growing, cooking and sharing good food with family and friends. I wanted a name that would not only tell everyone exactly what our shop was about but a name that would put a smile on everyone's faces.

I'd often heard people say, "I'm just going up to Mort's" or "I'm going to see what great new stuff Mort's got in store" or "Think I'll try the kitchen shop; Mort's sure to have it".

Brainstorming at lunch one day, a dear friend of mine suggested, "How about 'Mort and Pestle'"! 

"Perfect!" I replied.

But that's enough about us. Let's talk about you.
